Job Description

Responsible for developing partnerships with major Middle Eastern payment and marketing partners including but not limited to e-wallets or Mobile Payment Partners (MPP), Acquiring Partners (ACQP), Independent Service Providers (ISV), tourism sectors, key merchants, etc. in order to exploit Alipay+ services across major Middle East countries. This position requires travel flexibility.

  • Cooperate with Alipay+ Europe & Middle East RHQ and headquarters and functions to achieve agreed objectives;
  • Analyse digital payment market opportunities and needs by regional merchants to scale up overall merchant acceptance for Alipay+;
  • Monitor acquiring industry, offering, product solution and market impact, and propose initiatives to better serve the acquiring market with payment and non-payment products;
  • Assess Alipay+ potential to address merchant needs, also through new products and solutions;
  • Establish relationships with key decision takers at C-level and operational level with MPP, ACQP and prospect Key Account merchants;
  • Analyse existing and new acquiring partners who may support Alipay+ in exploiting merchant opportunities;
  • Establish partnerships across merchants, acquirors and relevant government/industry group entities (e.g. tourism board, SME industry groups)
  • Manage the full sales cycle to promote Alipay+ services with MPP and ACQP;
  • Coordinate legal & compliance along the commercial negotiation process to close the deal;
  • Coordinate product & tech along the implementation and integration of new solutions;
  • Cooperate with MPP and ACQP to distribute Alipay+ offer with regional key accounts;
  • Monitor ACQP and major merchants’ performances and, where required, propose improvement actions.

Profile And Skills

  • Deep understanding of the offline (in particular QR code payment) and online acquiring industry competitive dynamics at strategic, commercial, product and architecture level;
  • Well-connected with Middle Eastern MPP, ACQP and major key account merchants, with C-level and operational relationships;
  • On-the-ground and relevant experience in or with major MPP and ACQP;
  • Know-how on MPP, ACQP and merchants offline and online payment offering, product solutions, performances;
  • Successful business development track record on major merchants;
  • Good ability in written and oral communication, with hunter’s sales skills and pioneering spirit;
  • Able to work under pressure, within an international environment (Europe, Middle East and Asia), with ability to adapt quickly to strategic changes;
  • Know-how of Card payments (also local switch), Alternative Payments methods (e-wallets, buy-now-pay-later, account-to-account, etc.).
  • Be familiar with Middle Eastern payment market and buying patterns applied to global travel-related shopping and global travel shopping, including the target merchants and the target categories;
  • Be familiar with mobile marketing, digital services and technology innovation trends;
  • Working experience in Middle East, in particular UAE and Saudi and intra-GCC;
  • Minimum of 5 years' working experience in payments, acquiring, merchant’s development, e-wallet;
  • Experience with cross-regional experience is preferred;
  • Team-working, result orientation, self-entrepreneurship;
  • Language: English speaker, other regional language skills are advantageous
