ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking an Engineering Leader for our App Core team within Application Platform. This team is responsible for building the core capabilities that power the Benchling Platform for our users. This team is critical to enable Benchling to expand its footprint into new product areas, and support requirements for our enterprise customers. As the leader of this team, you will manage engineers working on Validation & Business Rules, Notifications, Feature Flags, etc. You will help define the long-term vision for the team, and deliver the next generation capabilities of the Benchling platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a team of exceptional platform engineers.
  • Partner closely with product and design to define roadmap and long-term product strategy.
  • Hold a high bar for product quality as the teams execute their work.
  • Partner closely with engineers on the team to ensure that we make excellent technical decisions as we lay the foundations for these new products.
  • Meet with customers to understand their science & what they need from Benchling.
  • Contribute to engineering-wide organizational improvements as part of the management team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience as an engineering manager
  • 5+ years of platform experience building enterprise software as a software engineer
  • Experience building, scaling, and operating platform services in production
  • Experience working closely with multi-functional partners in product, design, and engineering
  • Grown high-trajectory, early-to-mid-career engineers into leaders with company-wide impact.
  • A strong understanding of platform primitives, and how they is used in enterprise SaaS
  • Willing to work onsite in our SF office 3 days a week
  • Interest in life sciences!

SALARY RANGE

Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay. The candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location. For this role the base salary range is $186,575 to $252,425.
