EquipmentShare is searching for a Driver Training Specialist to support our team as the department continues to grow.

Salary range: $75k-$85k. Factors including past experience and location may affect final compensation rate.

Job Summary:

The Driver Training Specialist must have a working knowledge of the trucking industry including DOT/FMCSA compliance. The ideal candidate must hold an active Class A CDL and possess a technical training background. The Driver Training Specialist will facilitate training utilizing driving simulators following the company training curriculum. This position will work closely with Corporate Safety and the DOT Compliance Manager. This position will also serve as a subject matter expert in compliance with DOT Federal and State laws. This position will also be a resource to field operations answering questions, providing guidance and continued education.

Responsibilities:

The Driver Training Specialist is responsible for managing all training schedules for their assigned region. Maintaining the simulator to ensure cleanliness, organization, and keeping equipment in working order. Facilitate training sessions for new and existing drivers of all experience levels and maintain training records. Provide guidance to field operations upon request.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform job duties in accordance with EquipmentShare’s vision, mission, and values
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with internal departments & rental/retail markets across the organization
  • Serve as lead trainer and host for Driver Simulator Training courses, complete necessary train-the-trainer certifications
  • Troubleshoot simulator issues with support from simulator manufacturer
  • Communicate training and course schedules, availability, requirements, due dates, and completions to learners, internal managers, and external managers
  • Ensure all attendance and certification records for training are captured and retained
  • Provide new hire training as well as annual refresher training and corrective training
  • Provide direction and training for DVIR/ HOS/ ELD
  • Provide guidance on transportation and vehicle company safety initiatives & policies
  • Provide direction and training on load securement
  • Provide direction and training on roadside inspections
  • Stays current on changes of regulations, federal, state, and local transportation including environmental regulations and ensures they are communicated during training
  • Collaborate with L&D to provide continuous improvement to training curriculum
  • Maintain and update SOP’s related to training and simulators
  • Up keep the appearance and condition of the training trailer and truck

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work without constant supervision
  • Ability to work quickly and think logically, especially under pressure
  • Ability to adapt and engage with different personalities and driver skill levels
  • Ability to use diplomacy and tact when handling problems
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a positive manner
  • Ability to leverage technology to improve communication and efficiency
  • Holds a foundational understanding of computer systems in order to troubleshoot minor issues or support learners encountering technical issues

Education and Experience:

  • At least 5 years over the road driving experience Classes 5-8
  • At least 2 years Training & Development (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of G-Suite, including Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Valid Class A CDL (Other endorsements preferred)
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work standing and sitting for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to perform hands-on training duties at Equipmentshare locations
  • Ability to travel 80% of the time with overnight travel expected
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to retain CDL medical card
