About the Job:

Have you felt the pain of a failed deployment, or suffered through a long software rollback and have a strong desire to help engineering teams avoid that pain? Are you a natural builder or content creator who gets excited at telling stories? Do you love teaching teams about technology? Do you have a passion for making the earliest experiences with a product positive and helping teams find the “I Win!” moment? LaunchDarkly is looking for a Developer Experience Engineer to help craft experiences that excite developers and engineers exploring the platform. In this role, you’ll align closely to the self-service and developer consumption side of the business, bringing hands-on perspectives and helping build LaunchDarkly’s technical and thought leadership voice in the market.

You’ll create blog, video, and other technical content, engage with the software development community, and advance our ambition to enable engineering teams to build products that customers love.

Responsibilities:

  • Build technically authentic content: Help developers understand how to break apart deployment from release, and LaunchDarkly’s unique value to modern development practices through assets including blogs, videos, and other presentation assets.

  • Align closely to the self-service product experience, and help craft a world-class program that makes developers successful from the first 15 minutes in the platform.

  • Become a product expert: Collaborating closely with our product teams, deeply understand and translate LaunchDarkly’s vision into scalable, customer-facing content, collateral, and assets.

  • Advise and Coach Internal Teams: Become a technical advisor for internal teams through collaboration and enablement assets.

  • Evangelize feature management to the world: Present in webinars and other public events to promote LaunchDarkly capabilities and value.

  • Know what matters for developers: Gather insights on developer use cases, pain points and competitor offerings that will drive go-to-market plans.

  • Ability to travel ~15%

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working closely with, or as an embedded team member of, a software development team

  • Experience with (at least one) software languages such as Python, Ruby, JavaScript or C#

  • Experience with building / consuming public cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure

  • Deep experience and familiarity with modern development practices and tools such as continuous delivery, DevOps, Kubernetes, and cloud computing

  • A storyteller who has the creativity and writing skills to communicate technical topics with authenticity

  • An eye for detail and high quality content production across video and presentation

  • A strong presenter that can create credibility with developer audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience building and integrating with services in public cloud platforms (i.e. AWS Relational Database Service, Google Cloud Functions, or Microsoft Azure Container Services

  • Public examples of creating video, blog, and/or webinar content

  • Experience building and shipping applications across web or mobile platforms

Pay:

Target pay range for a Level P3 in San Francisco/Bay Area: $133,000-156,000*

Target pay range for a Level P4 in San Francisco/Bay Area: $158,000-186,000*

*Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental insurance, and mental health benefits in addition to salary.
