We are looking for a Director, Revenue Recognition who will be a critical member of the CFO staff leading the Order to Cash team and revenue accounting. The Director, Revenue Recognition will be an influential leader partnering cross functionally with Revenue, Internal Tools, and Legal. This role will report into the Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities:
- Overall ownership of the Order to Cash process (including deal/contract reviews, order generation, invoicing,collections, revenue accounting, and monthly financial close)
- Provide business support to the Revenue organization to ensure deals are appropriately structured (considering risk, operations and US GAAP requirements)
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance existing operational processes (to ensure accurate results are achieved efficiently) while providing good service to our business partners
- Partner with Deal Desk and Legal to develop policies and procedures for efficient deal execution
- Partner with Deal Desk and Internal Tools to drive process automation efforts
- Partner with Controller to improve our financial close processes
- US GAAP revenue recognition expert and will partner with external audit firm for annual audit
- Assist Corporate Controller to manage sales tax compliance
- Hire, manage, develop and mentor members on the team
- Other projects and job duties as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- CPA license
- 8+ years of progressive experience (with mix of public accounting firm and technology industry experience)
- Expert level understanding of revenue accounting under ASC 606
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Prior people management experience (building out a revenue team)
- Experience with NetSuite (including ARM), Salesforce, Stripe
- Advanced knowledge working with Excel
- Ability to work independently and balance multiple projects and processes simultaneously
- Willingness to roll-up your sleeves when work needs to get done
- Located in the SF Bay Area and willing to visit our Oakland office at least occasionally
