The Senior Software Engineering Lead – Applications is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining leading-edge logistics applications. This role drives new standards and architectural patterns for reliable, maintainable applications while mentoring and guiding engineering teams. The lead ensures scalability, observability, and optimal user experiences across the application portfolio, while participating in CI/CD and infrastructure initiatives.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop new, leading-edge logistics applications.
- Drive new standards and architectural patterns for reliable, maintainable applications.
- Clearly communicate design choices and intent through design documents and review designs from other engineers.
- Design applications for operability, including scaling, observability, and reliability.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the technology stack, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure.
- Continuously improve the application portfolio to optimize user flow/experience and minimize technical debt.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for applications the team builds.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a senior software engineer or engineering lead.
- Proficiency in F# for developing cloud-hosted applications.
- Experience developing applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong understanding of relational databases (SQL, indexing, debugging).
- Practical understanding of event streaming and distributed systems (idempotency, eventual consistency).
- Strong project management and leadership skills, with experience mentoring junior engineers.
- Comfortable developing on AWS using core primitives like S3, SQS, Lambda, etc.
- SQL Server and/or Postgres experience.
- Containerized development and operations experience.
- Familiarity with Kafka concepts and practical applications.
- Experience with F# front-end DSLs for server-side rendering.
- Front-end tooling knowledge: TypeScript, React, CSS, and related frameworks/component libraries.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
