The Feed is the starting point for our members’ experience on the LinkedIn app. Data engineering and AI teams’ partner closely to make our content recommendations on the Feed highly relevant, driving significant business impact. This Manager role is all about building production-quality signal pipelines for our models to deliver the best personalized recommendations for every member who comes to the Feed.
Responsibilities:
You will manage the performance and career development of a small team of engineers, and own significant parts of LinkedIn products that require design, architecture, and coding.
You will participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap.
Collaborate with data engineering and AI partners to build signal pipelines for Feed recommendation models and enhance the inference serving stack to enable various AI and product experiments
Operate pipelines and inference serving stack to ensure they scale, maintain high availability and resiliency, and produce high quality signals 24x7
Enhance the pipelines and inference serving stack to enable high experimental velocity
Grow your engineering team's engineering skills and lead them through the fast-paced evolution of AI and data engineering changes
Contribute to the evolving data engineering strategy of your parent organization
Basic Qualifications:
BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
1+ year(s) of management experience or 1+ year(s) of staff level engineering experience with management training
5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering
Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (like Java/Python/C/C++/Scala/etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline
2+ years of hands-on software engineering/technical management and people management experience
7+ years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.
5+ years programming experience in languages such as Java, C/C++, C#, Python, Go, etc.
Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable web applications
Understanding of common performance patterns and anti-patterns in distributed systems
Successful track record of managing small teams of engineers to deliver multiple projects on time and with quality
Active involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmaps

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $147,000 - $240,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
