Since pioneering our first mobile, solar-powered units, our commitment to scrappy, hands-on innovation has made us an established leader and one of the fastest-growing companies in intelligent site technology. This is your chance to join a cutting-edge team that isn't just watching the world change, but actively building the technology that is changing it.

We’re a team that’s focused on growth and innovation, and we’re proud that our crew, products, and leadership are being recognized for it.

  • Innovative Leadership: Our CEO, Ryan Porter, was named an EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2025, and our CTO, Steve Lindsey, was inducted into the Silicon Slopes CTO Hall of Fame in 2024.

  • Product & Software Excellence: We were named one of The Software Report’s Top 100 Software Companies of 2023 and are a winner of the Security Today Govies Award for 2025.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As the Senior Privacy and Product Counsel, you will be the primary legal architect of LVT’s global privacy program and a strategic partner to our innovation engine. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, you will navigate the intersection of cutting-edge Agentic AI, IoT hardware, and complex data environments. This is a high-impact individual contributor role where you will embed a "privacy-by-design" philosophy into our DNA, ensuring that as we scale our intelligence platform, we remain a gold standard for compliance and trust.

This role is based in-office out of our Headquarters in American Fork, Utah.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Legal Guidance: Provide practical, action-oriented legal advice to internal teams on a wide range of global privacy, data protection, and data governance issues.

  • Product Development & Design: Review new products, features, and technology initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws and internal policies from the initial design phase ("privacy-by-design").

  • Data Protection Program Management: Maintain and continuously update LVT's global data protection compliance program, including policies, procedures, records of processing activities (RoPA), and privacy notices.

  • Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate data protection agreements (DPAs), vendor agreements, and data transfer mechanisms (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).

  • Incident Response: Lead the legal response to data security incidents, including managing notification obligations in various jurisdictions.

  • Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver engaging, effective privacy training and awareness programs for employees across the company.

  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor and analyze changes in global privacy legislation and regulatory enforcement, advising the business on necessary adjustments and implementation strategies.

  • Success Measurement: Success in this role is measured by maintaining LVT's exemplary compliance record, the timely and efficient launch of new privacy-compliant products, and high internal stakeholder confidence in legal guidance.

  • End-to-End Product Lifecycle Support: Partner with Engineering and Product teams to provide legal guidance on the development and deployment of solar-powered surveillance hardware, firmware updates, and the cloud-based LVT platform.

  • IoT & Surveillance Compliance: Navigate complex regulatory landscapes regarding mobile sensor technology, including cellular connectivity (FCC), public/private space monitoring, and the use of advanced analytics like AI and license plate recognition.

  • Risk-Adjusted Feature Strategy: Review UI/UX flows and technical specifications to identify legal friction points in data collection, evidence retention, and user access controls before they are hard-coded into the platform.

  • Strategic Commercial Enablement: Draft and negotiate complex agreements for the LVT ecosystem, including third-party API integrations, video management system partnerships, and supply chain contracts for hardware components.

  • Go-to-Market & Liability Management: Review marketing claims and physical deployment playbooks to ensure messaging is legally substantiated while managing liability risks.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Legally Credentialed: Holds a J.D. from an accredited law school and maintains active membership in good standing with at least one state bar.

  • Privacy Expert: 6+ years of sophisticated legal experience with a deep focus on global privacy (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA); a blend of top-tier law firm and in-house experience is preferred.

  • Technically Fluent: You possess a high "technical IQ" and can comfortably discuss API integrations, firmware updates, and cloud architecture with engineering teams.

  • Strategic Problem Solver: You don’t just spot risks; you build bridges. You excel at providing practical advice in the face of imperfect information and rapid innovation cycles.

  • Collaborative Partner: Proven track record of working cross-functionally with Marketing, Security, and Product teams to drive business-friendly legal outcomes.

  • Certified Professional: Preference will be given to candidates with IAPP certifications (CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or CIPM).

  • Action-Oriented: You thrive in a "scrappy" high-growth environment and are ready to be the hands-on subject matter expert as we build the future of intelligent site technology.
