ABOUT THIS ROLE

LVT is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to work directly with our Manufacturing Process Engineering team. This 12-week program is designed for an engineering student seeking a "boots on the ground" introduction to the manufacturing industry. You will support daily production goals and contribute to long-term process improvements, gaining a foundational understanding of assembly line operations, technical documentation, and Lean principles. By the end of this internship, you will have built a professional portfolio of live-production SOPs and gained tangible project management experience through the implementation of a 5S zone and the analysis of assembly line dynamics.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive 5S Standards & Workplace Organization by leading audits and implementing physical organization solutions, such as tool shadowing and workstation layout improvements.

  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by observing assembly processes and collaborating with technicians to create clear, visual work instructions.

  • Advance Lean Manufacturing initiatives by identifying production wastes and assisting in time studies or bottleneck analyses to optimize line flow.

  • Support Engineering projects, including the assembly of basic fixtures or jigs and the collection of production data for weekly technical reviews.

  • Collaborate with floor operators to ensure organizational systems and process updates are practical, sustainable, and promote safety.

  • Participate in Kaizen events and small-scale continuous improvement projects to enhance overall manufacturing efficiency.

  • Maintain the central documentation database, ensuring all process guidance is accurate and accessible to the production team.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Academic Foundation: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Analytical Reasoning: The ability to observe complex manufacturing processes and translate them into simple, logical, and documented steps.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills; comfortable engaging with both shop-floor personnel and management teams.

  • Technical Aptitude: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word); exposure to CAD software is a professional advantage but not required.

  • Lean Mindset: A strong interest in learning and applying Lean Manufacturing principles, specifically 5S and waste reduction.

  • Physical Readiness: Ability to stand and walk on the manufacturing floor for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Detail-Oriented: A disciplined approach to documentation and a commitment to maintaining a standardized, organized workplace.

BENEFITS

We believe you do your best work when your whole life is supported. We invest in our crew’s health, families, and financial futures with a benefits package designed to support you inside and outside the office.
