Role Description:

This is an entry-level metrology technician position that will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and integrity of all incoming parts and materials, ranging from metal components, welding tubing, powder-coated products, and electronic elements (circuit boards, modems, wiring harnesses, etc.).

Responsibilities include precise measurement, thorough inspection, and preparation of reports on the quality of incoming materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Component Measuring: Thoroughly inspect and measure samples of incoming materials.
  • Perform incoming and first article inspections (FAI): Accurately measure and compare parts to engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring they meet the defined tolerances and quality standards, using precise measuring tools such as calipers, pin gauges, and micrometers.
  • Communication: Work with suppliers and other departments to discuss quality issues and share feedback on material quality.
  • Quality Documentation: Maintain detailed records and documentation for all inspected materials, including digital and physical records. Ensure that all documents are organized and readily accessible.
  • Reporting: Prepare inspection reports detailing findings, non-conformities, and recommended actions, adhering to established reporting procedures.
  • Non-Conformance Handling: Identify and report any non-conforming materials and collaborate with relevant departments for disposition and resolution.
  • Quality Compliance: Ensure that all inspections and quality control activities are carried out in accordance with relevant industry standards and company quality policies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality in the receiving inspection process.
  • Ability to effectively interpret data and respond to questions from engineers and other technical staff.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with CMM or advanced measurement equipment a plus.
  • Knowledge: Know how to use tools to measure things and understand quality control.
  • Reading and Understanding: Can read and understand technical drawings and plans.
  • Detail-Oriented: Pay close attention to details and do accurate measurements and paperwork.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Teamwork: Can work by yourself or with a team.
  • Computer Skills: Know the basics for doing work on the computer.
