Role Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer – Tooling and Jig Design is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of tooling and jigs used in our manufacturing processes. This role involves extensive use of CAD software to create detailed designs that enhance production efficiency, ensure product quality, and maintain safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop tooling, jigs, fixtures, and other equipment to support manufacturing operations.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., ProEngineer Creo) to create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for new tooling and jig designs.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure designs meet operational needs.
  • Perform testing and validation of new tooling and jigs to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling and jig performance.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and maintenance guidelines.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff regarding the use of tooling and jigs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in tooling and jig design within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., ProEngineer Creo)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Sheet Metal Processing (laser cutting, brake press, and PEM insertion) is desirable.
  • Computer skills- MS Office, & Google Suite (Specifically Excel/Google Sheet)
