Staff, Data Scientist | AI Products
Red Ventures
The AI Products team is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to help shape the future of generative AI applications for our Home Services partners, including those in the utilities and telecommunications sectors. In this role, you will lead the design and development of scalable, reusable AI products that serve multiple partners and domains. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and fellow data scientists to bring cutting-edge language model capabilities to life using frameworks like LangChain, LangSmith, and APIs from providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
We believe diverse, inclusive teams are better teams. If you don't have all the qualifications, we encourage you to join our talent community here.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, prototype, and implement generative AI solutions using large language models (LLMs) that can be applied across partner use cases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product, engineering, and other data scientists—to build and scale reusable AI capabilities.
- Build and maintain automated workflows for deploying and monitoring AI systems using modern MLops or LLMops tools.
- Contribute to the development of internal libraries and tooling that improve productivity and reusability across AI projects.
- Participate in model evaluation, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and experimentation with LLM pipelines.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data scientists; foster a culture of learning and excellence within the team.
- Identify opportunities to integrate traditional ML techniques when appropriate, and ensure a strong data science foundation is present in AI applications.
Work Experience
What We’re Looking for:
- Master's Degree + 6 years of experience OR PhD + 4 years of experience
- Bachelor's Degree or even better, Master's Degree in Math, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or other relevant degrees.
- Demonstrated history of collaborating cross-functionally to scope, design, and implement complex AI/ML solutions, with a strong track record of influencing product direction and delivering high-impact, production-ready systems.
- Demonstrated software engineering proficiency, including Python, Git, code reviews, test-driven development (TDD), and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, MLflow), applied to building robust, production-ready ML and LLM applications using best practices like modular code, version control, and data validation (e.g., Pydantic).
- Demonstrated ability to architect and deploy modular, production-ready data science solutions.
- Comfortable working in collaborative environments and contributing to shared team goals.
- Proficiency with LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph and LangSmith, and experience working with APIs from OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar.
- Familiarity with AWS ML/deployment stack (ECS, S3, Cloudwatch, etc.) for scalable model serving and monitoring of similar cloud stack.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, MLflow, Spark) for end-to-end data processing, feature engineering, and model experimentation.
- Strong understanding of LLM architectures and theory (Transformers, attention mechanisms, pre-training/fine-tuning methods).
- Familiarity with traditional ML techniques (e.g., classification, regression) and how they complement generative AI applications.
