We want everyone to work better – but we also want to be a tech company with a heart. Join us as we continuously innovate our award-winning products, create new solutions, and help the world work smarter, not harder.
About the role:
Tempo Software is a PE-backed SaaS company (~$200M+ ARR) in the Atlassian ecosystem with 9 global legal entities across multiple currencies and jurisdictions. The Director of Accounting is a senior, hands-on leadership role within the Finance team, reporting to the VP Controller. This person leads the accounting team through month-end close, owns accounting operations, and plays a key role in audit, compliance, and strategic finance projects. We're looking for a player-coach — someone who rolls up their sleeves, gets things done, and brings a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to everything they touch.
What you’ll do:
Close & Reporting
Lead the accounting team through the monthly close across 9 entities and multiple currencies, driving accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement
Own the close checklist and reconciliation workflows, leveraging close management tooling to maintain visibility and accountability
Partner with FP&A on pre- and post-close review meetings, including revenue and variance analysis
Manage intercompany eliminations and ensure consistency across entities, including structures involving transfer pricing and IP royalty arrangements
Accounting Operations
Oversee AP workflows, including vendor invoice processing, purchase order approvals, and domestic and international contractor payments
Coordinate international payroll submissions and commission payments with third-party payroll providers
Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for banking operations, lender reporting, and investor reporting requirements
Audit & Technical Accounting
Lead the annual audit process end-to-end, including PBC list management, auditor correspondence, and resolution of technical accounting topics such as revenue recognition under ASC 606, impairment, intangible amortization, deferred revenue, and foreign currency
Own multi-entity compliance and intercompany reconciliations, and liaise with external advisors including auditors and legal counsel as needed
Strategic Projects
Lead the build-out of transaction-level GL infrastructure to support financial reporting quality and due diligence readiness, maintaining data integrity across a high volume of transactions and multiple entities
Drive process documentation and internal controls with a focus on building audit-ready infrastructure that can withstand rigorous external scrutiny
Partner with the VP Controller and cross-functional stakeholders on systems implementations and process improvement initiatives, bringing experience navigating mid-stream system changes and integrations
Team Leadership
Manage and develop 1–2 accountants as a true player-coach — you're in the work alongside the team, not just reviewing it
Bring a proactive, get-it-done attitude that sets the tone for the team
Who you are:
7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with a mix of public accounting and SaaS or tech industry background
CPA required
Strong technical accounting skills under US GAAP, with particular depth in ASC 606 revenue recognition, multi-currency consolidations, intercompany accounting, and deferred revenue
Experience working in a PE-backed environment and comfort interfacing with external auditors, lenders, and investors
NetSuite experience preferred; familiarity with close management, reconciliation, or billing tools a plus
Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build and maintain complex models and reconciliations
A hands-on, proactive mindset — you see what needs to be done and you do it
