Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an Automation Engineer to own our automation strategy and framework, and to help define how we build, maintain, and scale automated testing across the product. You won’t be doing this alone. You’ll work closely with the QA Manager and leadership to set clear automation goals, focus coverage where it has the most impact, and strengthen the tooling and infrastructure it all runs on. Just as important, you’ll make it easy for QA and engineering to contribute with confidence.

As our testing practices evolve, you’ll also help shape how AI fits in, building the structure, documentation, and repeatable patterns that make both automation and AI-assisted QA genuinely effective across the team.

What You’ll Do

Own & Evolve the Automation Infrastructure

  • Own our Playwright and TypeScript framework end to end, and keep making it faster and more reliable
  • Design the patterns (Page Object Model, reusable fixtures, shared utilities) that make tests fast and consistent for everyone to write
  • Run the test execution infrastructure: parallelization, retries, and environment isolation
  • Keep the framework approachable, so a developer’s first test is easy to write and hard to get wrong
  • Own verification of infrastructure changes that fall outside the normal dev flow (base image updates, security patches, dependency bumps, platform upgrades), and convert that recurring work into automated regression coverage

Track and Report Automation Metrics

  • Own the reporting on pass rate, flaky rate, coverage by feature, failure attribution, and mean time to resolution
  • Get those metrics in front of engineering and product leadership through dashboards or whatever tooling needed
  • Read the trends to spot coverage gaps, reliability hotspots, and what to automate next
  • Treat flaky tests as a real problem worth structured root cause analysis and tracking, not a shrug
  • Tune test selection (risk-based and change-aware) to get the most signal in the least time

Enable QA Engineers and Developers

  • Run workshops and pair with QA and Dev to make writing automated tests less daunting
  • Make automated testing a normal part of “done,” not an afterthought
  • Build the scaffolding, generators, and AI-assisted tooling that let developers write unit, component, and API tests without deep QA expertise
  • Coach front-end and back-end engineers to own their slice of the test pyramid

Build AI-Assisted and Agentic Testing

  • Stand up AI-assisted triage that tells real bugs apart from flakes and environment noise, suggests a likely root cause, and routes the failure to the right owner
  • Evaluate self-healing and AI maintenance tools, and call where they cut real upkeep versus where they just add noise
  • Build the feedback loop (rubrics, evals, and guardrails) that makes agent-generated tests something we can trust over time
  • Use AI to multiply coverage and reduce maintenance, not just crank out volume. More generated code means more surface area to keep honest, and that’s yours to manage
  • Share what works through docs, demos, and enablement so the whole team levels up

Implement Synthetic Monitoring and Production Quality

  • Work with DevOps and infra on synthetic checks that watch critical user journeys in production, and own the authoring and coverage strategy
  • Build alerting around synthetic failures that’s useful: specific, with enough context to act on
  • Add production signals like canary analysis and error rate tracking that tie test coverage back to real-world behavior

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • 5+ years in software quality engineering, with 3+ years owning automation frameworks
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Playwright and TypeScript, with production-grade frameworks behind you, not just scripts
  • Proven experience integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines with a focus on reliability and developer experience
  • Solid grasp of the full test pyramid and the ability to coach others on it
  • Experience tracking automation health metrics (pass rate, flaky rate, coverage, failure attribution)
  • Strong English communication skills and comfort presenting to engineers and leadership
  • A builder’s mindset: you see process friction and feel compelled to fix it

Strongly Preferred

  • Active use of AI coding tools, with real experience deploying agentic workflows for test generation, triage, or maintenance
  • Experience with synthetic monitoring in production (Playwright-based checks, Datadog Synthetics, or similar)
  • Familiarity with self-healing test platforms or strategies
  • Experience enabling developers and manual QA testers to write automated tests through tooling or education
  • SaaS or FinTech background, ideally with data-driven workflows or complex multi-step user journeys
  • Proficiency with a test management platform (TestRail, Zephyr, or similar)
